About Our Community

Long Beach is located on a barrier island, between Point Lookout and Atlantic Beach.

Access to the island is via three bridges: the Loop Parkway, which is Exit M10 of the Meadowbrook Parkway, provides eastern access. The bridge at Long Beach Boulevard crosses Reynolds Channel and gives access to Island Park and Oceanside to the north. The Atlantic Beach bridge offers access from Atlantic Beach to the Rockaways and the Five Towns, from the western end of our beautiful island.

Long Beach is home to the Allegria, a Five Star Hotel, and friend to the Long Beach Waterfront Warriors. The Allard K. Lowenstein Public Library is located on Park Avenue, just west of National Boulevard.

One block east, a Farmers Market is a regular feature of the Long Beach Plaza. Long Beach Hospital is located on the bay between Monroe and Lincoln Boulevards.

The Long Beach branch of the Long Island Railroad (click for schedule) transports beachgoers, siteseers, and working folks between Long Beach and New York City’s Pennsylvania Station, several stations in Brooklyn and Queens, and many stops along the way.

Long Beach is home to a vibrant arts community, including several arts organizations whose work can be seen this summer at the Plaza in front of City Hall, in the Senior Center’s art gallery, and that of the Long Beach Public Library.

Beach passes can be purchased at the Long Beach Recreation Center, which features and olympic sized pool, a diving pool, a gym complete with lockers, steam rooms and cardio, and a year round ice-skating.

Beach passes may also be purchase from 9am through 5pm at beach entrances.
